Wow! Japan photo contest

Outline and Theme

• “Share your WOW! Japan photo contest” is a contest of photos taken in Japan.
• Share your photos to best fit any one of following themes; “Cool!”, “Delicious!”, “Happy!”, “Beautiful!”, “Funny!”, or “Miracle!”.
• Those who have uploaded excellent photos will be invited to the awarding ceremony and incentive tours held in Japan.

Period

• Contest runs from September 1, 2012 to 11.59pm, February 15, 2013 (Japan time)

Eligibility and Judging

• Winners in each category will be determined by the number of votes (WOWs!) received from other users and also at the discretion of the Japan Tourism Agency.
• WOW! Prize
  • The following 4 criteria will be used by the Japan Tourism Agency to decide the winner:
  • Photographs that will inspire people to travel to Japan
  • Photographs that show the undiscovered charm of Japan
  • The number of photographs submitted
  • The number of votes (Total number of WOWs!)
  • The number of WOWs! (votes) is only one of the selection criteria for the WOW! prize and individual theme prizes.
• Individual Theme Prizes
  • The following 3 criteria will be used by the Japan Tourism Agency:
  • Photographs appropriate to the theme that will inspire people to travel to Japan
  • Photographs appropriate to the theme that show the undiscovered charm of Japan
  • The number of votes (If you submit several photos in the same theme, the photo with the most number of votes will be counted)
  • The number 1 ranking of WOWs! will not necessarily win a prize
• Tohoku/North Kanto Regional Prize
  • Awarded to the best photo taken in the Tohoku/North Kanto region at the discretion of the the Japan Tourism Agency
• Monthly prize draws
  • The names of all registered users will go into a monthly prize draw
• Members benefits
  • 10,000 users will receive a Wi-Fi pass free of charge which can be used on their visit to Japan

Announcement of results

• The Grand Prize winner will be decided in March 2013. The Japan Tourism Agency will contact the winner directly.
• The WOW! Prize Winner and Individual Theme Prize winners will be announced on the website and these winners will be invited to Japan for an awards ceremony.

Eligibility

• Besides tourists, foreign residents and students currently living in Japan can participate in this contest. And you don’t have to be in Japan during the contest period, 2012.9.1～2013.2.15, as past photos taken in Japan can also be submitted.

How to enter

• Please submit a photo in your “Share your WOW! Japan photo contest”account and choose from one of the themes.

  • Please see the theme list for a description of each theme
  • Please refer to the guidelines for instructions on how to submit photos
  • You are eligible for benefits at the time of registration

• All prizes details will be announced on this website and also on our official Facebook page.

Grand Prizes

• WOW! Prize (1 winner)

• The number of votes (Total number of WOWs!)

The number of WOWs! (votes) is only one of the selection criteria for the WOW! prize and individual theme prizes.

• Individual Theme Prize (6 winners)

The following 3 criteria will be used by the Japan Tourism Agency:

• Photographs appropriate to the theme that will inspire people to travel to Japan
• Photographs appropriate to the theme that show the undiscovered charm of Japan
• The number of votes (If you submit several photos in the same theme, the photo with the most number of votes will be counted)

The number 1 ranking of WOWs! will not necessarily win a prize
The WOW! prize and individual theme prizes include round trip air tickets from your home country to major cities in Japan, the cost of accommodation in Japan and costs associated with the special Japan experiences. Costs associated with obtaining visas, work, travel from/to the airport costs and living expenses such as meals in Japan are not included.
The awards ceremony will be held on Friday March 15th, 2013
If you require a visa for your trip to Japan, please arrange by yourself.
Winners have to be able to attend the awards ceremony held on March 15th, 2013.

• Tohoku/North Kanto Regional Prize

Awarded to the best photo taken in the Tohoku/North Kanto region at the discretion
of the Japan Tourism Agency.
Speciality goods from the Tohoku/North Kanto Region
Valuable speciality products from the Tohoku and north Kanto regions of Japan given as prizes.

• Monthly Prize

Monthly prizes draw 20 winners (total 120 winners)
Awarded at the end of every month from September, 2012 to February, 2013Monthly prize
The names of all “Share your WOW!” Japan photo contest” registered users
will go into a monthly prize draw
